"body": "Dear Colleagues-\n\nOver 1000 GCN Circulars have been sent out! This milestone is a \ncause for celebration and appreciation. The GCN system has become \nthe indispensable enabler of much of the GRB afterglow research, \nfor which we are grateful.\n\nThis uniquely valuable research service is largely the result of \nthe efforts of a single highly motivated and capable individual, \nDr. Scott Barthelmy. \n\nOver the years, the GCN system has been continually developed and\nenlarged from its BACODINE origins. The hallmarks of this remarkable \nsystem: automation, speed, and accuracy, have become familiar to \nall researchers who use the service. Responsiveness, archiving and \ndocumentation are also basic features of the system and the Web site.\n\nIf you agree with this assessment of the value of the GCN system, \nwe suggest that you send a short e-mail of appreciation to Scott \n(scott.barthelmy@gsfc.nasa.gov), thanking him for his service to the \nentire science community and congratulating him on the 1000th GCN\nCircular.\n\n(This message is being sent to all subscribers of the GCN Circulars\nwithout Scott's knowledge. Thanks to Paul Butterworth for his help \nwith this communication.)\n\n\nSincerely,\n\nJerry Fishman\t\tNeil Gehrels\t\tThomas Cline\nNASA/MSFC\t\tNASA/GSFC\t\tNASA/GSFC",
