Robinson\n(NASA-MSFC/USRA) on behalf of a larger collaboration, report: \"We\nobtained I band images with the ESO NTT and the Wise Observatory 1-m\ntelescope that cover the RXTE error circle of GRB980703 (IAU\nCirc. 6966, GCN #126). We find the following magnitudes for the\noptical transient proposed by Frail et al. (GCN #128; see also GCN\n#130 and GCN #131):\n\n\tUT date\t\t     I\t\ttelescope\n\t\n\tJuly 4.06\t20.1 +/- 0.2\tWise 1-m\n\tJuly 4.37\t20.6 +/- 0.2\tNTT\n\tJuly 5.05\t20.9 +/- 0.3\tWise 1-m\n\tJuly 6.44\t21.3 +/- 0.2\tNTT\n\nNo other sources in the entire RXTE error circle are found to be\nvariable by more than 0.4 magnitude between the two NTT epochs down\nto I=22.6.\n\nThis message is citeable.",
