Greiner (MPE Garching) report on behalf of the\nGROND team:\n\nWe observed the field of GRB 120716A (Hurley et al., GCN #13487) at the\nposition of the afterglow candidate (Cenko et al., GCN #13489)\nsimultaneously in g'r'i'z'JHK with GROND (Greiner et al. 2008, PASP 120,\n405) mounted at the 2.2 m MPG/ESO telescope at La Silla Observatory\n(Chile).\n\nObservations started at 05:07 UT on 2012-07-19, 2.5 days after the GRB\ntrigger. They were performed at an average seeing of 1.4\" and at an\naverage airmass of 1.3.\n\nWe found a single point source at a position consistent the afterglow\ncandidate reported in Cenko et al. (GCN #13489) and Xu et al. (GCN\n#13490). Based on the first 460s of total exposures in g'r'i'z' and 480 s\nin JHK, we estimate preliminary magnitudes (all in AB system) of\n\ng' = 21.8 +- 0.1 mag,\n\nr' = 20.9 +- 0.1 mag,\n\ni' = 20.5 +- 0.1 mag,\n\nz' = 20.3 +- 0.1 mag,\n\nJ = 19.9 +- 0.2 mag,\n\nH = 19.6 +- 0.2 mag and\n\nK = 18.8 +- 0.5 mag\n\nThe optical/NIR SED is well fit by a power-law with a spectral slope of\n~1.3, typical for GRB afterglows, confirming this to be the afterglow of\nGRB120716A.\n\nGiven magnitudes are calibrated against SDSS zeropoints as well as 2MASS\nfield stars and are not corrected for the expected Galactic foreground\nextinction corresponding to a reddening of E_(B-V)=0.07 mag in the\ndirection of the burst (Schlegel et al. 1998).",
