Greiner (all MPE Garching) report on\nbehalf of the GROND team:\n\nWe observed the field of GRB 160314A (Swift trigger 679120; D'Elia et\nal., GCN #19182) simultaneously in g'r'i'z'JHK with GROND (Greiner et al.\n2008, PASP 120, 405) mounted at the 2.2m MPG telescope at the ESO La Silla\nObservatory (Chile).\n\nObservations started at 23:53 UT on 2016-03-15, 36.3h after the GRB\ntrigger. They were performed at an average seeing of 1.1\" and at an\naverage airmass of 1.5.\n\nWe clearly detect the source reported by Malesani et al. (GCN #19191)\nand Butler et al. (GCN #19196).\n\nBased on 90 min of exposure in g'r'i'z' and 96 min in JHK, at a mid-time\nof 00:44 UT on 2016-03-16, we derive the following preliminary magnitudes\nand upper limits (all in the AB system):\n\ng' = 23.3 +/- 0.1 mag,\nr' = 23.1 +/- 0.1 mag,\ni' = 22.6 +/- 0.1 mag,\nz' = 22.5 +/- 0.1 mag,\nJ > 22.2 mag,\nH > 21.8 mag, and\nK > 20.4 mag.\n\nGiven detections and upper limits are calibrated against SDSS\nas well as 2MASS field stars. No correction for the expected Galactic\nforeground extinction corresponding to a reddening of E_(B-V)=0.07 mag in\nthe direction of the burst (Schlafly & Finkbeiner 2011) has been applied.\n\nOur r'-band magnitude, combined with that of RATIR (Butler et al., GCN #19196)\nsuggests a very slow fading, possibly indicating that we are close to the\nbrightness of the host galaxy (Malesani et al. GCN #19191, D'Elia et al., GCN #19192).",
