"body": "A. M. Soderberg, S. R. Kulkarni (Caltech) and D. A. Frail (NRAO) report:\n\n\"We observed the peculiar type Ic SN 2003jd (IAUC 8232,8234; GCN 2431)\nwith the VLA on Oct 29.15 UT at 4.9, 8.5 and 22.5 GHz. We\ndo not detect the supernova and place the following 3 sigma limits on\nthe radio emission from the source: 0.16, 0.10, and 0.17 mJy, respectively.\n\nAt a distance of 80.8 Mpc, the radio luminosity of SN 2003jd at 8.5\nGHz is at least a factor of 100 lower than that of SN 1998bw at a\nsimilar epoch. Furthermore, making the typical assumption of\nequipartition, we place an upper limit on the ejecta energy of 4x10^45\nerg, a factor of 10^4 lower than that inferred for SN 1998bw (Kulkarni\net al. 1998, Nature, 395, 663; Li & Chevalier 1999, ApJ, 526, 716) but\nsimilar to the energy inferred for SN 2002ap (Berger et al. 2002, ApJ,\n577, L5).\n\nFurther observations are planned.\"",
