Stratta, and Boer M. report:\n\nTAROT observed the HETE Ground alert #3558\nfrom 2004 Sept. 16 02:26:59 UT\n to 2004 Sept. 16 02:57:35 UT,\nas a series of 30-s unfiltered images\nin the field described by Yamazaki et al.\n(GCN Circ. 2712, 2713).\n\nWe first computed the medians of sub-series\nof 3 images to eliminate cosmics, which were\nthen co added to obtain a single image.\n\nComparing to the USNO-1B catalog and DSS\nimage, we are able to detect all stars\nbrighter than R=19.4, and very few\nstars fainter than R=20.0.\n\nThe candidate proposed Kosugi et al.\n(GCN 2726) is not detected at the 3\nsigma level. We conclude that the\nafterglow had a magnitude R > 19.4\nin a time period extending from 2.39 to 2.89 hours\nafter the GRB.\n\nWe note that a fuzzy patch is seen at\nmag R=19.5 in the image at the position of\nthe afterglow, which we do not\nconsider as the afterglow, but as a background\nfluctuation.\n\nThis message may be cited",
