Stella (INAF/OAR) and G. \nTagliaferri (INAF/OABr), report on behalf of the MISTICI collaboration:\n\nWe observed the field of GRB 060108 (Oates et al., GCN 4443; Sakamoto et \nal., GCN 4445) with the ESO-VLT UT1 equipped with the ISAAC camera, \nstarting on Jan 9.307 UT (0.7 d after the GRB). Coaddition of ten 90 s \nexposures does not reveal any object inside the XRT error circle (Page \net al., GCN 4444) down to a limiting magnitude J = 22.3 (3 sigma \nconfidence level).\n\nThis limit (see also Guidorzi et al., GCN 4447) implies a faint \nafterglow, as observed in other Swift GRBs. If this faintness is due to \na Lyman dropout, the non detection in J implies a redshift z > 9.\n\nThis message can be cited.",
