"body": "Yun Wang (UCB), WeiKang Zheng (UCB), Xuhui Han (NAOC), Pinpin Zhang (NAOC) and Alexei V. Filippenko (UCB) report on behalf of the KAIT GRB team:\n\nThe 0.76-m Katzman Automatic Imaging Telescope (KAIT), located at Lick Observatory, observed the field of GRB 261029A (Goto et al., GCN 46072; Fermi GBM team, GCN 46071), using the optical counterpart candidate coordinates reported by GOTO (O'Neill et al., GCN 46073), starting at 03:40:13 UT on 2026 October 29, about 2.2 hours after the trigger. We clearly detected the source with a magnitude of 17.15 +/- 0.09 mag in the first 60 s clear (roughly R) filter image, consistent with the observation reported by TRT (He et al., GCN 46078). The object continued fading in our follow-up observations and observations are ongoing."
