Meurs, and P. Goldoni  report \non behalf of the REM/ROSS team\n\n\nWe observed the field of GRB 061217 (Barthelmy et al. GCN 5926) with  \nthe robotic 60-cm REM telescope located at La Silla (Chile). A set of \nobservations was performed automatically in the optical and near  \ninfrared filters (V, R, I and J, H, K, z) starting on 2006 December  17 \nat 03:40:56 UT, 35 s after the BAT trigger and 48 s after the GRB  time.\n\nPreliminary analysis of the whole dataset does not show any new  \nvariable source inside the BAT error box.\n\nThe 3-sigma limiting magnitudes are:\n\n   R~18.0\n   J~16.0\n   H~15.0\n   K~13.5\n\nThis message may be cited.",
