Stockholm)\nreport on behalf of a larger collaboration:\n\nWe have flux calibrated the VLT spectrum of the GRB 071112C\noptical afterglow (Jakobsson et al., GCN 7076). We clearly\ndetect four emission lines: [O II] 3727, [Ne III] 3869 and\n[O III] 4960,5008. Using the relations by Kennicutt (1998,\nARA&A, 36, 189), the flux of the [O II] line corresponds to\na star formation rate (SFR) of approximately 0.5 M_Sun/year.\nThis value has not been corrected for host extinction or slit\nloss, and is therefore a strict lower limit to the actual SFR.\n\nThe flux ratio of [Ne III] and [O II] is typical of GRB\nhost galaxies, with log([Ne III]/[O II]) ~ -0.5 (see Fig 4\nin Wiersema et al., arXiv:0706.1345v1). The presence of\nsuch strong emission lines in the OA spectrum indicates\na fairly bright host, approximately 24 < R < 25 (see also\nNugent & Bloom, GCN 7069).\n\nFinally, using new wavelength calibration files we report\na more accurate absorption redshift (based on 8 lines):\nz = 0.8230 +/- 0.0003.",
