Palmer (LANL),\nA. M. Parsons (GSFC), M. Stamatikos (NASA/ORAU),\nR. L. C. Starling (U Leicester), T. N. Ukwatta (GSFC/GWU) and\nD. E. Vanden Berk (PSU) report on behalf of the Swift Team:\n\nAt 03:41:16 UT, the Swift Burst Alert Telescope (BAT) triggered and\nlocated GRB 080330 (trigger=308041). Swift slewed immediately to the burst. \nThe BAT on-board calculated location is \nRA, Dec 169.302, +30.570 which is \n RA(J2000) = 11h 17m 12s\n Dec(J2000) = +30d 34' 13\"\nwith an uncertainty of 3 arcmin (radius, 90% containment, including \nsystematic uncertainty). The BAT light curve showed a multiple-peak\nstructure with a duration of about 60 sec. The peak count rate\nwas ~1500 counts/sec (15-350 keV), at ~0 sec after the trigger. \n\n\nThe XRT began observing the field at 03:42:27.4 UT, 70.5 seconds after\nthe BAT trigger. Using promptly downlinked data we find a bright,\nfading, uncatalogued X-ray source located at RA, Dec 169.26095,\n30.62298 which is equivalent to:\n RA(J2000) = 11h 17m 2.63s\n Dec(J2000) = +30d 37' 22.7\"\nwith an uncertainty of 3.077 arcseconds (radius, 90% containment). This\nlocation is 229 arcseconds from the BAT onboard position, outside the\nBAT error circle. \n\nA power-law fit to a spectrum formed from promptly downlinked event\ndata does not constrain the column density, so we cannot provide limits\non the redshift using spectroscopy and the relation from Grupe et al. \n(2007). A summary of the promptly downlinked data is given at\nhttp://www.swift.ac.uk/sper/308041/. \n\nThe initial flux in the 2.5 s image was 2.03e-09 erg cm^-2 s^-1 (0.2-10\nkeV). \n\n\nUVOT took a finding chart exposure of nominal 100 seconds with the White\n(160-650 nm) filter starting 82 seconds after the BAT trigger. There is a\ncandidate afterglow in the list of sources generated on-board at\n RA(J2000) =\t11:17:04.51 = 169.2688\n DEC(J2000) = +30:37:22.1 = 30.6228\nwith a 1-sigma error radius of about 1.0 arc sec. This position is 6.1 arc sec. \nfrom the center of the XRT error circle. The estimated magnitude is 18.8 with a\n1-sigma error of about 0.5 mag. No correction has been made for the expected\nextinction corresponding to E(B-V) of 0.02. \n\n\n\n\nBurst Advocate for this burst is J. Mao (jirong.mao AT brera.inaf.it). \nPlease contact the BA by email if you require additional information\nregarding Swift followup of this burst. In extremely urgent cases, after\ntrying the Burst Advocate, you can contact the Swift PI by phone (see\nSwift TOO web site for information: http://www.swift.psu.edu/too.html.)",
