Ward (MSSL-UCL) report on behalf\nof the Swift Team:\n\nAt 13:23:22 UT, the Swift Burst Alert Telescope (BAT) triggered and\nlocated GRB 080426 (trigger=310219).  Swift slewed to the burst\nafter a brief delay due to Earth limb constraint. \nThe BAT on-board calculated location is \nRA, Dec 26.574, +69.492 which is \n   RA(J2000) = 01h 46m 18s\n   Dec(J2000) = +69d 29' 30\"\nwith an uncertainty of 3 arcmin (radius, 90% containment, including \nsystematic uncertainty).  The BAT light curve showed a single-peaked\nstructure with a duration of about 2 sec.  The peak count rate\nwas ~7500 counts/sec (15-350 keV), at ~0 sec after the trigger. \n\nThe XRT began observing the field at 13:27:05.2 UT, 222.5 seconds after\nthe BAT trigger. Using promptly downlinked data we find an uncatalogued\nX-ray source with an enhanced position: RA, Dec 26.49931, 69.46856\nwhich is equivalent to:\n   RA(J2000)  = 01h 45m 59.83s\n   Dec(J2000) = +69d 28' 06.8\"\nwith an uncertainty of 2.8 arcseconds (radius, 90% containment). This\nlocation is 126 arcseconds from the BAT onboard position, within the\nBAT error circle. \n\nA power-law fit to a spectrum formed from promptly downlinked event\ndata gives a column density consistent with the Galactic value of\n3.65e+21 cm^-2 (Kalberla et al. 2005), so we cannot constrain the\nredshift at this time using the relation from Grupe et al. (2007). A\nsummary of the promptly downlinked data is given at\nhttp://www.swift.ac.uk/sper/310219/. \n\nUVOT took a finding chart exposure of 100 seconds with the White  \n(160-650 nm)filter starting 226 seconds after the BAT trigger. No  \nafterglow candidate has  been found in the initial data products. The \ntypical 3-sigma upper limit has been about 18.5 mag. The 8'x8' \nregion  for the list of sources generated on-board covers 100% of \nthe XRT error circle. The list of sources is typically complete to \nabout 18mag. No correction has been made for the expected \nextinction corresponding to E(B-V) of 0.79. \n\nBurst Advocate for this burst is H.
