Salotti (ASI),\non behalf of the AGILE Team, report:\n\n\"SuperAGILE detected a gamma ray burst on 1st October 2008, at 21:17:42 \nUT. The event had a duration of about 40 s in the 20-60 keV energy range,\nwith a first 10-s long bright peak, followed by a second broad peak about \n20s apart. Assuming a Crab-like energy spectrum, the peak flux on 1-s \ntimescale was about 6 ph/cm2/s or 5E-07 erg/cm2/s (20-60 keV).\nThe burst position was reconstructed as (RA, Dec)\n(276.576 deg, -8.754 deg), which is:\n\nRA(J2000) = 18h 26m 18.34s\nDec(J2000) = -8d 45' 14.65\"\n\nwith an uncertainty of 3' radius. The given uncertainty accounts\nfor both the statistical and systematic errors.\n\nAn analysis of the AGILE Gamma Ray Imager (GRID) data is in progress.\"\n\nThis message may be cited.",
