At the scan transit centered at UT 2010-03-15T17:13:40,
MAXI/GSC detected a short X-ray transient with two spikes lasting
about 25 seconds within the 83 seconds triangular transit
response of MAXI/GSC.
The source location is determined as
(R.A., Dec)=( 74.95 deg, -6.63 deg) = ( 4 59 48, -6 37 48) (J2000)
we obtain a rectangular error box with the following corners:
(R.A., Dec) = (+73.50 deg, -6.42 deg) = (04 54 1, -06 25 29)(J2000)
(R.A., Dec) = (+73.66 deg, -7.19 deg) = (04 54 38, -07 11 19)(J2000)
(R.A., Dec) = (+76.40 deg, -6.80 deg) = (05 05 36, -06 48 16)(J2000)
(R.A., Dec) = (+76.30 deg, -6.03 deg) = (05 05 12, -06 01 54)(J2000)
The preliminary flux (4-10 keV) of the source was more than 250 mCrab.
There was no significant detection at the transit location in the
previous and
following orbits (92 min before or after the detection) with an upper
limit of 20 mCrab. There is no known bright X-ray source at the
detected position. Follow-up observations are encouraged.
