The AGILE satellite, launched on April 23, 2007 and dedicated to X-ray and gamma-ray astrophysics ceased its scientific observations on January 18, 2024 in anticipation of its re-entry. The satellite re-entered into the atmosphere today as a consequence of natural decay of its low Earth orbit.

During 17 years, AGILE contributed in fundamental ways to high-energy astrophysics, cosmic-ray physics, solar physics and to the study of terrestrial gamma-ray flashes. Its archives and catalogs are available to the community through the ASI SSDC.
