The Fermi GBM team reports the detection of a likely LONG GRB

At 14:54:49 UT on 31 Aug 2024, the Fermi Gamma-ray Burst Monitor (GBM) triggered and located GRB 240831A (trigger 746808894.48422 / 240831621).

The on-ground calculated location, using the Fermi GBM trigger data, is RA = 286.3, Dec = 40.2 (J2000 degrees, equivalent to J2000 19h 05m, 40d 12'), with a statistical uncertainty of 1.1 degrees.

The angle from the Fermi LAT boresight is 167.0 degrees.
