report on behalf of the SVOM team:

With the X-band downlink data, it is confirmed that the counterpart (Qiu et al., GCN 37819, Malesani et al., GCN 37821) of GRB 241018A triggered by SVOM/Eclairs (Atteia et al., GCN 37812) was clearly detected in VT images in both channels. Its brightness had a large fading for about 5 magnitudes within our initial observations of 10ks in red band.

The improved position is R.A.=04:31:59.34, DEC.=+43:01:12.3, Error=0.1 arcsec, J2000, which is fully consistent with the position of Swift XRT source #1(Osborne et al., GCN 37823).

The Space Variable Objects Monitor (SVOM) is a China-France joint mission led by the Chinese National Space Administration (CNSA, China), National Center for Space Studies (CNES, France) and the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS, China), which is dedicated to observing gamma-ray bursts and other transient phenomena in the energetic universe. VT was jointly developed by Xi'an Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics (XIOPM), CAS and National astronomical observatories (NAOC),CAS.
