GCN Circular 959

Subject
ALERT: GRB010222: the brightest GRB observed by BeppoSAX
Date
2001-02-22T10:36:47Z (24 years ago)
From
Luigi Piro at IAS/CNR Frascati <piro@ias.rm.cnr.it>
On Feb. 22, 07:23:30 U.T. a very bright GRB, possibly the brightest ever
observed by BeppoSAX has been detected simultaneously by the GRBM and WFC1
aboard BeppoSAX.

Preliminary coordinates from WFC are:

R.A.(2000)= 223.069
DEC.(2000)= 43.035

The error radius at this stage of analysis is 5'.

We are planning a BeppoSAX-NFI observation.

Luigi Piro
BeppoSAX Mission Scientist

[GCN OPS NOTE (22feb01): There was a typo in the date_name for this burst
in the Subject-line in the original distribution. This Circular is really
about GRB 010222, not 020223.]
