K. Hurley, on behalf of the Ulysses GRB team,
E. Mazets and S. Golenetskii, on behalf of the Konus-Wind GRB team, and
T. Cline, on behalf of the Ulysses and Konus GRB teams, report:
Ulysses and Konus observed this burst at 25250 s.
As observed by Ulysses, it had a duration ~30 s,
a 25-100 keV fluence of 8.5E-5 erg/cm2, and a
peak flux over 0.5 s of 1.3E-5 erg/cm2 s. We have
triangulated it to a preliminary annulus centered
at RA, Decl (2000)=175.616, 36.839 degrees, whose
radius is 14.065+/-0.126 degrees.
This annulus can be constrained further, but at this
point it is not clear whether the event was observed
by Mars Odyssey, and thus whether an error box can
be derived for it.

team, report:
This burst (GCN 1617) was also observed by Mars Odyssey (HEND and GRS).
We have triangulated it to two preliminary, 3 sigma error boxes whose
approximate areas are 65 sq. arcmin. each and whose coordinates are:
RA(2000) DEC(2000)
ERROR BOX CENTER: 12 h 45 m 47.73 s 44 o 10 ' 59.79 "
ERROR BOX CORNER 1: 12 h 46 m 19.03 s 44 o 8 ' 30.23 "
ERROR BOX CORNER 2: 12 h 45 m 58.90 s 44 o 15 ' 55.20 "
ERROR BOX CORNER 3: 12 h 45 m 36.49 s 44 o 6 ' 4.47 "
ERROR BOX CORNER 4: 12 h 45 m 16.22 s 44 o 13 ' 29.11 "
or
ERROR BOX CENTER: 10 h 38 m 18.98 s 43 o 52 ' 24.06 "
ERROR BOX CORNER 5: 10 h 37 m 48.22 s 43 o 49 ' 45.70 "
ERROR BOX CORNER 6: 10 h 38 m 7.15 s 43 o 57 ' 16.21 "
ERROR BOX CORNER 7: 10 h 38 m 30.87 s 43 o 47 ' 32.04 "
ERROR BOX CORNER 8: 10 h 38 m 49.95 s 43 o 55 ' 2.27 "
There is a strong probability, which cannot be quantified at the moment,
that the former is in fact the correct one. We will attempt to confirm this.
These error boxes can be improved.

This burst (GCN 1617 and 1625) was also observed by RHESSI.
Triangulation confirms that the first error box in GCN 1625
is indeed the correct one:
RA(2000) DEC(2000)
ERROR BOX CENTER: 12 h 45 m 47.73 s 44 o 10 ' 59.79 "
ERROR BOX CORNER 1: 12 h 46 m 19.03 s 44 o 8 ' 30.23 "

ERROR BOX CORNER 4: 12 h 45 m 16.22 s 44 o 13 ' 29.11 "
This error box can be improved.

report:
Following the detection of the very high fluence gamma-ray burst GRB
021008 (GCN 1617, 1625), we have observed the IPN error box given by
Hurley et al. (GCN 1629) with the 2.2m telescope at Calar Alto (Spain)
on Oct 14.21 UT (3 x 200 sec, I band) and Oct 15.21 UT (5 x 200 sec,
R band) at a high airmass, just before the twilight (5.9 and 6.9 days,
respectively, after the burst trigger). The combined R-band image goes
~1 mag deeper than the corresponding DSS-2 red image. No optical
transient is found down to the DSS-2 limit (R ~ 20).

D. A. Frail (NRAO), and E. Berger (Caltech) report on behalf of a
larger collaboration:
"We have used the VLA to observe the IPN error box (GCN 1629) for the
gamma-ray burst GRB 021008 on 2002 Oct. 17.7 and Oct. 19.8 UT at a
frequency of 4.86 GHz and 8.46 GHz. At 4.86 GHz the entire error box
was imaged, while at 8.46 only the inner half was imaged. There are no
radio sources in this area at either frequency at or above a level of
175 uJy (5-sigma).
No further observations are planned."
