B. Sbarufatti (INAF-IASFPA) and T. N. Ukwatta (GSFC/GWU) report on
behalf of the Swift Team:

At 15:02:11 UT, the Swift Burst Alert Telescope (BAT) triggered and
located GRB 090408 (trigger=348720). Swift will execute a delayed slew
to the burst. The BAT on-board calculated location is
RA, Dec 231.618, +37.564, which is
   RA(J2000) = 15h 26m 28s
   Dec(J2000) = +37d 33' 51"
with an uncertainty of 3 arcmin (radius, 90% containment, including
systematic uncertainty). The BAT TDRSS light curve shows nothing significant
as is typical for an image trigger.

Due to an observing constraint, Swift will not slew until
T0+55 minutes. There will be no XRT or UVOT data until
this time.

Burst Advocate for this burst is M. C. Stroh (stroh AT astroh.org).
Please contact the BA by email if you require additional information
regarding Swift followup of this burst. In extremely urgent cases, after
trying the Burst Advocate, you can contact the Swift PI by phone (see
Swift TOO web site for information: http://www.swift.psu.edu/too.html.)

L.P. Xin, W.K. Zheng, Y.L. Qiu, J.Y. Wei, J. Wang,
J.S. Deng, Y. Urata and J.Y. Hu on behalf of EAFON report:

We have observed GRB 090408 (Stroh et al., GCN 9110)
with Xinglong TNT telescope from Apr.8,16:27:30 (UT),
1.42 hour after the burst. After combined 18*300s R
band images, no new source was found in our combined
image. The 3 sigma upper limits derived from USNO-B1.0
R2 magnitude is R=21.1 mag at the mean time of 1.67 hour
since the trigger.

We have observed the field covering the error circle of
GRB090408 (Swift trigger 348720, GCN 9110, M.C.Stroh et al.)
with the unfiltered CCD camera on the 30-cm telescope
at University of Miyazaki.
The observation was started 15:05:13 UT (2 min. after the Swift trigger),
under cloudy condition.
First analyzable image was obtained at 15:16:52 UT (14 min. after the Swift trigger).

We have compared our data of 30 sec exposures
with the USNO-A2.0 catalog,
There is no new source at the reported position.
(GCN 9110,M.C.Stroh et al.)

the upper limits are as follows:
--------------------------------------------------------------
Start(UT) End(UT) Num. of frames Limit (mag.)

15:16:52 15:17:22 1 13.5

GRB090408 : TAOS optical observations

S.K. King, K.Y. Huang, S.Y. Wang and the TAOS team

The four 50cm TAOS telescopes observed GRB 090408 position (Stroh et
al, GCN9110) at 91s after the burst. No new optical emission was
detected in the BAT possition error range. The 3-sigma limiting
magnitude, compared with USNOB red stars, are as follows:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mean Dealy(s) Exposure time Limit mag. Telescope
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    157 5s x15 15.2 TAOSB

D. Shakhovskoy, V. Rumyantsev (CrAO), A. Pozanenko (IKI) report on behalf of
larger GRB follow-up collaboration:

We observed the Swift GRB 090408 (Swift trigger=348720; Stroh et al., GCN
9110) in R-filter on Apr. 8 with AZT-11 telescope of CrAO. We do not
detect any new object within BAT erorr box (Stroh et al., GCN 9110) in a
stacked image in R at ~ 3.7 hrs after burst onset. An upper limit
photometry of combined images based on USNO B1.0 1275-0286482
RA(J2000)=15:26:27.78 Dec(J2000)= +37:33:46.2 R =17.55 is following:
