GCN Circular 34204

Subject
GRB 230712A: Fermi GBM Final Real-time Localization
Date

From
Fermi GBM Team at MSFC/Fermi-GBM <do_not_reply@GIOC.nsstc.nasa.gov>
The Fermi GBM team reports the detection of a likely SHORT GRB

At 00:39:13 UT on 12 Jul 2023, the Fermi Gamma-ray Burst Monitor (GBM) triggered and located GRB 230712A (trigger 710815158.21058 / 230712027).

The on-ground calculated location, using the Fermi GBM trigger data, is RA = 153.8, Dec = 28.5 (J2000 degrees, equivalent to J2000 10h 15m, 28d 30'), with a statistical uncertainty of 19.6 degrees.

The angle from the Fermi LAT boresight is 73.0 degrees.

The skymap can be found here:

and

S. Barthelmy, J. Cummings, H. Krimm, D. Palmer, and A. Tohuvavohu
on behalf of the Swift-BAT team, report:

The short-duration GRB 230712A
(Fermi-GBM detection: The Fermi GBM team, GCN Circ. 34204)
was detected by Fermi (GBM trigger 710815158) and
INTEGRAL (SPI-ACS) at about 81618 s UT (22:40:18).

We have triangulated it to a GBM-SPI-ACS annulus centered at
RA(2000)=216.150 deg (14h 24m 36s) Dec(2000)=+43.693 deg (+43d 41' 34")
whose radius is 74.146 +/- 8.027 deg (3 sigma).

The annulus combined with the Fermi-GBM final position (GCN 34204;
glg_healpix_all_bn230712027_v00) gives 1125 sq. deg (3 sigma) localization region.

A triangulation map and HEALPix FITS file are posted at
