The Fermi GBM team reports the detection of a likely SHORT GRB

At 04:06:18 UT on 5 Jun 2024, the Fermi Gamma-ray Burst Monitor (GBM) triggered and located GRB 240605A (trigger 739253183.722254 / 240605171).

The on-ground calculated location, using the Fermi GBM trigger data, is RA = 90.4, Dec = -41.6 (J2000 degrees, equivalent to J2000 06h 01m, -41d 36'), with a statistical uncertainty of 13.7 degrees.

The angle from the Fermi LAT boresight is 21.0 degrees.

The skymap can be found here:

MASTER-SAAO robotic telescope (Global MASTER-Net: http://observ.pereplet.ru, Lipunov et al., 2010, Advances in Astronomy, vol. 2010, 30L) located in South Africa (South African Astronomical Observatory) started inspect of the Fermi GRB 240605A ( Fermi GBM team, GCN 36615) errorbox 51551 sec after notice time and 51586 sec after trigger time at 2024-06-05 18:26:05 UT, with upper limit up to 18.1 mag. The observations began at zenith distance = 81 deg. The sun altitude is -34.2 deg.

The galactic latitude b = -26 deg., longitude l = 248 deg.
