The Fermi GBM team reports the detection of a likely SHORT GRB

At 05:36:43 UT on 16 Jun 2024, the Fermi Gamma-ray Burst Monitor (GBM) triggered and located GRB 240616A (trigger 740209008.10072 / 240616234).

The on-ground calculated location, using the Fermi GBM trigger data, is RA = 151.9, Dec = 14.3 (J2000 degrees, equivalent to J2000 10h 07m, 14d 18'), with a statistical uncertainty of 11.5 degrees.

The angle from the Fermi LAT boresight is 72.0 degrees.

The skymap can be found here:

MASTER-SAAO robotic telescope (Global MASTER-Net: http://observ.pereplet.ru, Lipunov et al., 2010, Advances in Astronomy, vol. 2010, 30L) located in South Africa (South African Astronomical Observatory) started inspect of the Fermi GRB 240616A ( Fermi GBM team, GCN 36674) errorbox 39447 sec after notice time and 39481 sec after trigger time at 2024-06-16 16:34:44 UT, with upper limit up to 18.5 mag. Observations started at twilight. The observations began at zenith distance = 51 deg. The sun altitude is -11.2 deg.

The galactic latitude b = 51 deg., longitude l = 213 deg.
