Analysis of AstroSat CZTI data with the CIFT framework (Sharma et al., 2021, JApA, 42, 73) showed the detection of a long-duration GRB 240727C which was also detected by INTEGRAL/SPI-ACS (Trigger 10817).

The source was clearly detected in the CZT detectors in the 20-200 keV energy range. The light curve peaks at 2024-07-27 17:30:08.2 UTC. The measured peak count rate associated with the burst is 280 (+160, -1) counts/s above the background in the combined data of all quadrants, with a total of 635 (+187, -160) counts. The local mean background count rate was 338 (+4, -8) counts/s. Using cumulative rates, we measure a T90 of 7.0 (+1.0, -2.4) s.

It was also clearly detected in the CsI anticoincidence (Veto) detector in the 100-500 keV energy range. The light curve peaks at 2024-07-27 17:30:07.7 UTC. The measured peak count rate is 376 (+63, -61) counts/s above the background in the combined Veto data of three quadrants (out of four), with a total of 1084 (+274, -282) counts. The local mean background count rate was 1079 (+7, -9) counts/s. We measure a T90 of 5.7 (+2.7, -3.0) s from the cumulative Veto light curve.

CZTI is built by a TIFR-led consortium of institutes across India, including VSSC, URSC, IUCAA, SAC, and PRL. The Indian Space Research Organisation funded, managed, and facilitated the project.

The long-duration GRB 240727C (AstroSat/CZTI detection: GCN 36957; INTEGRAL/SPI-ACS detection: trigger no. 10817; Konus/Wind detection trigger at 2024-07-27 17:30:03.986 UTC) was observed by the GRBAlpha 1U CubeSat (Pal et al. 2023, A&A, 677, 40; https://ui.adsabs.harvard.edu/abs/2023A%26A...677A..40P/abstract).

The detection was confirmed at the peak time 2024-07-27 17:30:07.7 UTC. The T90 duration measured by GRBAlpha is 6.5 s and the overall significance during T90 reaches 13.3 sigma.

GRBAlpha, launched on 2021 March 22, is a demonstration mission for a future CubeSat constellation (Werner et al. Proc. SPIE 2018). The detector of GRBAlpha consists of a 75 x 75 x 5 mm3 CsI scintillator read out by a SiPM array, covering the energy range from ~50 keV to ~1000 keV. To increase the duty cycle and the downlink rate, the upgrade of the on-board data acquisition software stack is in progress. The ground segment is also supported by the radio amateur community and it takes advantage of the SatNOGS network for increased data downlink volume.

report on behalf of the SVOM team:

During the commissioning phase, the SVOM/GRM was triggered in-flight by a long GRB 240727C at 2024-07-27T17:30:09 UT (T0), which also triggered AstroSat (GCN 36957) and GRBAlpha (GCN 36979).

With the event-by-event data downloaded through the X-band ground station, the GRM light curve shows that this burst consists of a single pulse with a duration of about 10 s.

At the time of this burst the ECLAIRs trigger was active, but no uncatalogued point source could be found inside the ECLAIRs field of view.

The Space Variable Objects Monitor (SVOM) is a China-France joint mission led by the Chinese National Space Administration (CNSA, China), National Center for Space Studies (CNES, France) and the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS, China), which is dedicated to observing gamma-ray bursts and other transient phenomena in the energetic universe.
